Stereotypes

Stereotypes are in a way useful for storytellers and is the easy and lazy way out in creating characters, because then you have a person that is recognizable to the viewers and they are easily understood to be who they are and don't have to set up anything for them. It can be useful but it also narrows the idea of the them and keeps them in the past way of things when we should be focusing on the future. People change and people aren't who you think they are and that is more interesting and more refreshing to read and see than having them be the classic stereotype/cliche of their character.
